Privacy Policy
The short version
- We collect only what Purrhood needs: your email, your cats' profiles and what you post.
- No ads, no tracking and we never sell your data.
- Your posts are public; your email is never shown.
- Data is stored with Supabase in the EU; push goes via Expo only if you turn it on.
- Download or delete everything any time in Settings › Privacy & data.
- Purrhood is for people aged 16 and over.
1.Who we are
Purrhood is a free social app where every profile is a cat. It is run by [CONTROLLER NAME — e.g. Andre Santos trading as Purrhood], [POSTAL ADDRESS] ("we", "us"). We are the controller of your personal data under the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and, where it applies, the EU GDPR.

2.What we collect
We only collect what we need to run Purrhood:
- Account: email address, password (stored hashed by our authentication provider, never readable by us) and sign-in times.
- Your profile: an optional display name, plus an optional "human" name per cat that you can hide.
- Cat profiles: name, handle, photo, bio, breed, birthday, sex and an optional free-text location (e.g. "London"). We never collect your precise GPS location.
- What you post: photos, videos (up to 30 seconds), stories (deleted after 24 hours), captions, comments, likes, reactions, reposts, follows, Cat Battle votes, fish gifts and community memberships.
- Invites: invite codes you create or use, so we can link the right accounts.
- Notifications: the in-app notifications we generate for you and, only if you switch push on, your device's push token.
- Reports you send about content or accounts.
- Consent records: when you accepted our terms, which version, and your notification choices.
- Technical data: our hosting providers keep short-lived server logs (such as IP address and device or browser type) for security.
3.Photo and video metadata
Photos are re-encoded on your device before upload, which strips hidden EXIF metadata such as GPS location and camera serial numbers. Purrhood never asks for location permission, and videos recorded in the app carry no location data.
A video picked from your library may still carry location metadata from the camera app that recorded it. If that worries you, turn off location tagging in your camera app.

No ads, no tracking, no selling. Purrhood has no advertising, no third-party analytics and no tracking across other apps or websites, and we never sell your data. If that ever changes, we will ask you first.
5.Who can see your content
Purrhood is a public social app. Cat profiles, posts, comments, stories and badges can be seen by other users, and media files are served from public links. Your email address is never shown to anyone. Your human name is shown only if "Show my human" is switched on.
6.Who processes data for us
We use a small number of trusted providers who process data only on our instructions:
- Supabase: database, authentication and file storage. Hosted in the EU (AWS eu-west-1, Ireland).
- Expo (650 Industries): push notification delivery, only if you opt in. Based in the USA; transfers rely on the UK–US Data Bridge / EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
- Apple and Google: deliver push messages to your device.
- Cloudflare: hosts this website (purrhood.app) and routes email sent to our addresses. It may process IP addresses and request logs for security and performance.
Prize promoters receive a winner's name and delivery address only to deliver a prize, and only with the winner's agreement. We may also disclose data where the law requires it.
7.How long we keep it

8.Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings › Privacy & data › Delete account. This removes your account, cat profiles, posts, comments and files straight away (backups clear within 7 days). Communities you lead stay open if you hand leadership to another member first.
9.Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, export, delete, restrict or object to our use of your data, and to withdraw consent at any time.
- In the app: Settings › Privacy & data lets you download all your data as a JSON file, edit or remove details, turn push off and delete your account.
- By email: for anything else, write to hello@purrhood.app. We reply within one month.
10.Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first at hello@purrhood.app. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk (0303 123 1113), or to your local data protection authority if you live in the EU.
11.Children
Purrhood is for people aged 16 and over. We may use age checks where the law requires them. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has an account, contact hello@purrhood.app and we will delete it.
12.Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will tell you in the app and ask you to review it again. The date at the top shows the latest version.
